What the Diabetes Risk Assessment Tells You

The Diabetes Risk Assessment tells you your current risk of developing diabetes at the time of assessment. It does not predict your lifetime risk of diabetes.

As your risk level can change over time, you should repeat the assessment when needed.

Who Should Take it

You must be 18 to 39 years old to complete the Diabetes Risk Assessment. This is to:

Under 18

Speak to your doctor if you have any concerns.

Over 40

Go straight for a cardiovascular screening. You should do this every 3 years.

What To Do With Your Assessment Results

Your next steps depend on your risk category.

 

If you are…

You should…

At lower risk

  • Keep up a healthy lifestyle.
  • Repeat the assessment every two years or if:
    • Your weight changes.
    • Your blood pressure increases.
    • You get a diagnosis of gestational diabetes (for females).
    • A family member is diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.

At higher risk

Go for health screening. To do this:

  • Log in to HealthHub using Singpass to record your result.
  • You’ll get an email invite to book your screening.
  • Redeem your subsidised screening at any CHAS GP clinic.
  • Make an appointment to ensure availability.

Note: The invitation and subsidised screening are only available for those who are found to be “at higher risk”.
