Logging Your Meals

The Meal Log tool lets you log your food and drinks for today or yesterday. You should do it before or right after eating, while it’s fresh.

Tip: Try to log your meals every day to keep track of your daily calories and nutrients and make healthier choices.

There are 3 ways to log an item for your meal’s time band:

  1. Search for the name of the food or drink
  2. Take a photo of the food or drink
  3. Upload a photo of the food or drink

For step-by-step instructions, refer to Adding a Meal Log.

Food and Drinks You Should Log

Focus on food and drinks that contribute to your daily intake, including:

  • Main meals
  • Snacks
  • Fruit and vegetables
  • Drinks such as coffee, tea or bubble tea

Note: You do not need to log plain water as it has no calories.

Logging Buffets and Home-Cooked Meals

Not every meal fits neatly into a single dish. Here's how to log buffets and home-cooked meals so your nutrition tracking stays accurate.

If you are adding a Meal Log for

You should

Buffet meals

Log each food and drink item individually.

You can add more than one item at the same time and adjust the portion you had (for example, 0.5 or 1 cup, bowl or piece).

Home-cooked meals with rice

Log the meal as one dish, for example, "Economic Rice (2 meat 1 veg)".

You may also choose to log each part on its own.  For example, "Sambal eggplant", "Ikan masak pedas", "Aloo gosht" and "White rice", adjusting the portion size for each.

If you can't find an item

HPB updates the Meal Log database regularly to add new and popular foods and drinks. However, some items may not be in the database yet, as there are always new food and drink choices in Singapore.

If you can't find what you're looking for:

  • Search for a similar item that closely matches what you had.
  • Simplify your search term by removing dashes, spaces and special characters. For example, search "wholegrain" instead of "whole-grain" or "whole grain".

If the item still can't be found, you can suggest a new food or drink to HPB. Your suggestion will be reviewed in future updates.

Editing or Deleting Your Meal Logs

If you’ve logged your food or drink incorrectly, you can edit or delete logs that you have submitted today or yesterday.

Editing a Meal Log

You can update the portion size or portion type of a logged item. Portion sizes must be between 0.25 and 99.

For step-by-step instructions, refer to Editing a Meal Log.

Deleting a Log

You can delete logged items, but at least one item must remain in each time band you've already logged.

For example, if you logged 2 items in the "Morning" time band, you can only delete 1 of them.

For step-by-step instructions, refer to Deleting Items In a Meal Log.

Saving Items to My Favourites

If you eat or drink something regularly, you can save it to My Favourites for quicker logging in future. For step-by-step instructions on saving or removing item, refer to Adding or Removing Favourites.

Viewing Your Past Meal Logs

You can view up to 30 days of past meal logs and calories and nutrition intake information. For step-by-step instructions, refer to Viewing Your Daily Meal Summary.
