What is the Forward Bending Test?
The Forward Bending Test is a way to check for scoliosis, which is a curve in the spine.
- During the test, the child bends forward while a doctor or nurse examines their back.
- A small tool called a scoliometer helps check if the spine is curved.
The test detects potential issues but does not measure the exact severity of the curve.
What does a positive test result mean?
A positive result means the doctor or nurse noticed a possible imbalance or curve in your child’s spine. This does not always mean scoliosis, but further checks may be needed.
Some children may need an X-ray for a more accurate assessment.
If Your Child Needs Further Assessments
Your child will be given an appointment at the Student Health Centre. You can check the appointment details on HealthHub.
